Database Application for Project Management, Budgeting and Finance
   
The Editorial Services System- is a relational, self-secured database application developed for Publication Departments. The system was developed for recording Publications, controlling related Contracts or Purchase Orders, keeping track of Articles for monthly Journals and maintaining financial Allotments for these Purchase Orders. The System is a complete standalone solution or it can be integrated into a larger system. The system is a part of a Dohatec Publication Suite 
  
This system maintains information - I) for Company's Publications (Books) and II) for Journals. For Publication section different types of Purchase Orders are issued. Funds for these Purchase orders are provided from different Allotments or Budgets made against various units of any Publication Department. These budget information are also maintained in this System An allotment, may be required to be transferred among allotments, the system provides these transactions among allotments. 
 
Different types of articles are published in journals and these need to be monitored continuously thus this system monitors and updates information of a publication company. . This system is able to track each and every article when it is ready for publication.
Based on these basic information, the system provides different types of reports and queries for Budgets, Budget transactions, Publications, Publication Monitoring, Purchase Orders, Work Orders, Journals and Journal Monitoring according to any Publication Department's requirements. 
The detailed modules of the database system are shown below:
 
Module 1: Finance
This module is for entering budget information. First initial budgets are entered, called allotments, later additional amount may be added to any budget. The System also provides for any amount to be transferred among budgets. The Finance module records and tracks any transaction within the budget. 
 
Module 2: Publication Management
This module records the data of books published. The Publication section includes detailed data of books, vendors information of the books, production schedule of publications etc. 
 
Module 3: Production Management
This module records and tracks the status of different articles to be printed in Journals. There are different types of articles, which also include manuscripts. Manuscripts can be imported from Dohatec's "Manuscript Management Database System".
 
Module 4: Purchase Orders
This module is used for generating automatic purchase orders (PO) for publications. There are different types of purchase orders. The Purchase order keeps the estimated amount for a publication. The actual Work Order is then generated from purchase orders in this module. This module supports print of both purchase orders and work order in Microsoft Word in editable form. 
 
Module 5: Queries
This module is for analysis of different purchase orders for any financial purpose and decision-making management. The user can view all purchase order information and any queries can be derived in this module.
 
Module 6: Reports
This module provides user to preview and print each and every frequently– used reports. Each report gives the user an option for selecting data for reports. This system provides facilities to produce 40 reports in the System. 
 
Module 7: System
This module provides contains the base files of the system and user management for security of the system.
