First- ever TV show on public procurement

The first- ever television talk show on the issues of public procurement was aired by the Bangladesh Television (BTV) at 10:55 am on May 6, 2009 (Wednesday).

The BTV aired the programme for 25 minutes. It would be telecast once a month as per the Bengali calendar on the BTV. According to BTV sources, airing time of the programme would be changed from the next month as the target viewers like government officials and bidding community members can conveniently watch it in the weekend.

Secretary of IMED Md Abdul Malek, Director General of Central Procurement Technical Unit Amulya Kumar Debnath and former DG of CPTU AKM Fazlul Karim took part in the discussion in the first episode on the roles of IMED, CPTU and different aspects of public procurement reforms, the Public Procurement Act (PPA) and the Public Procurement Rules (PPR) etc.
